Wax and Bubbles

Even though a share of Burt’s Bees was bought by the Clorox company, they still offer the same great products and even some new ones the help meet the needs of all who enjoy their product line.

Burt’s Bees continues to lead the way in natural and eco-friendly products and with all that beeswax it’s bound to keep climbing the pole to “The Greater Good”.

There are many products that are new with Burt’s Bees since the last post on what’s new with the company, but there are also some die-hard products that will always be apart of the Burt’s Bees history. Some of Wax and Bubbles favorites are listed below.

1. Beeswax and Banana Hand Cream: Made with beeswax of course and is 100% natural in everyway. It has the awesome smell of banana when applied to the skin and can be used on hands, feet and even your face. (2 oz. $9)

2. Beeswax Lip Balm in the tin: This is one of the long time standing products that actually got Burt’s Bees it’s start into cosmetics. The tin is made from recycled material that can be recycled over and over again. The lip balm contains the famous beeswax and with a hint of peppermint to add to the comfort of the balm. (.3o 0z tin $3)

3. Baby Bee All-Better-Balm: This is truly a great product. It contains the beeswax, but offers cocoa butter as well. It’s a great product to use on dry areas around your baby, but it also comes in handy when the little one falls and scrapes their knee or even hand. It really takes the sting out of any child’s Boo-boos. (.25 oz. $6)

I simply love Burt’s Bees and ever since their merging with the Clorox company I see the Beeswax Lip balm at almost every checkout counter I go to. I love seeing it there though, because it reminds me to stick with Burt’s Bees products over conventional products because they are not only all-natural and organic, they are also better for the environment as well.

I normally, once a month check out the Burt’s Bees website to see what is new and order my everyday products as well. This month I headed to their site and realized they have come out with a ton of new products and lines and what better way to get the word out, than through Wax and Bubbles. Here are the new products from Burt’s Bees that I use on a regular bases and love.

• Naturally Nourishing Milk & Shea Butter Body Wash: It’s 98.5% natural and contain milk powder that leaves your skin feeling awesome. The scent to this body wash is simply amazing and I feel uplifted every time I use it. ($8)

• Thoroughly Therapeutic Honey & Shea Butter Body Butter: This body lotion contains pure honey which has been known to soften and moisturizing to the body in a natural way. This product works great right out of the shower, putting it on from head to toe. I go through about 3 of these a month and my skin feels absolutely wonderful. ($13)

• Baby Bee All Better Balm: This product is 97.91% natural and is the prefect little boob boo fixer in our house. It contains cocoa butter and other essential oils to help soothe the cut or scrape. I even use it on my cuts and scrapes because the scent is so pleasant and it really does make it feel better. ($6)

• Natural Skin Care for Men Body Wash: My husband loves this new line from Burt’s Bees. He loves the Bay Rum line and when they switched to this new natural car line he loved them even more. It’s more of a universal scent and doesn’t have such pungent smell to it; it is more of a relaxed scent. This wash contains sunflower oil to help soften the skin and also can be used on super oily skin, which he has from time to time from working hard. ($8)

Burt’s Bees has been my all-time favorite product line since I had my son in late 2003. I was introduced to them through a family friend that set my up with a bundle of the baby bee line of products and I fell in love with the scent and have been using them ever since.

Along with the baby bee line of products I have switched my lotions, shampoo and conditioners, my face wash as well has my hand soaps over to Burt’s Bees. My husband was a die-hard fan of the bay rum men’s line and when it was discontinued and the new line of men’s products came out, he was one of the first to try them and now uses them without fail. We have even join the mailing list and have joined the hive so I can stay in the know about the latest products they come out with. Along with that knowledge Burt’s Bees has come out with some great new body lotions and lip balms/and glosses and even some anti-aging products that I must share with all my Wax and Bubbles readers.

There is the Replenishing Lip Balm with pomegranate and bees wax. Which has been out for a little over a year, but their Naturally Ageless line is the best out there as far as naturally reversing the signs of aging. Some of their best Naturally Ageless products are:

1. Naturally Ageless Line Diminishing Day Lotion: Don’t let fine lines see the light of day.

2. Naturally Ageless Skin Firming Night Crème: Firm up while you rest up.

3. Naturally Ageless Intensive Repairing Serum: Intense repair promotes ageless skin.

4. Naturally Ageless Line Smoothing Eye Crème: Smooth move for ageless eyes.

Burt’s Bees says, “Bee smart about your beauty.”

To help soothe sore muscles you have to at least get down into the muscle and not just the top layer of skin. People with arthritis could also benefit from this muscle soak when dealing with painful flare-ups. Here’s how to make it:

1 tsp. dried juniper (Juniperus communis) berries
2 tbs. fresh or dried peppermint (Mentha xpiperita)
2 tbs. fresh or dried spearmint (Mentha spicata)
2 tbs. fresh or dried lavender (Lavandula augustifolia)
5-7 drops of peppermint essential oil (Mentha xpiperita)
5-7 drops lavender essential oil (Lavandula augustifolia)

Place all dried or fresh ingredients in a muslin drawstring bag or a disposable bath tea bag. If both are unable to get ahold of, cheese-cloth will work as well. Just double or the cheese-cloth to make sure the dried or fresh leaves don’t slip out the side of the cheese-cloth.

Add the bag to your bathtub and fill the tub with hot water. Add the essential oil drops. Relax and soak for 20 minutes. When you get out of the tub some of the essential oils will be on your skin. Rub the oil in the places where the muscles hurt the most. Pat yourself dry and dress for bed. The next best thing for sore muscles is to lay flat on either a hard surface or a soft surface, such as your bed, given whatever feels more comfortable to your back.

Starting out as a honey sales man, Burt Shavitz would sale bottled honey out of the back of his pickup truck on the side of the road in 1984.
