Make your own Cranberry Body Polish
Sunday, February 22nd, 2009
What you will need:
1 cup purees cranberries
1 cup body lotion or carrier oil such as jojoba, olive or even grape seed oil
1 cup sugar-organic brown sugar without molasses or organic white sugar
Several bath towels
What you need to do:
Mix the pureed cranberries with the carrier oil or body lotion until combined completely. Mix in the sugar and blend enough sugar into the mixture till a very thick paste is developed. Once the paste is made disrobe and lay the bath towels all over the bathroom floor. Or if you choose not to have the mess on your floor you can put the sugar scrub on your body standing inside the shower.
Begin by taking fingertips full of scrub and starting at your feet and working your way up the body. Don’t do the bottom of the feet as much; you can come back to them later on.
Rub the scrub into your skin in circular patterns and don’t press down into the skin too hard, you don’t want to leave your skin scratched up. Just apply enough pressure to where it feels nice and is exfoliating skin. Be sure and rub the scrub into your arms and legs toward the heart. Never press the skin away from the heart, it can cause unnecessary pressure on the veins in the arms and legs.
Once the scrub is on your whole body excluding the head and neck area, turn the shower on and get the water at a comfortable temperature. Rinse the scrub from the body and finish with a cool burst of cold water. Pat dry your skin when you are finished and follow with a soothing body lotion. If you used body lotion in the beginning you may need to rinse a bit more to remove all traces of the lotion.
You can also just finish the scrub bath with patting the skin and the oils in the scrub will leave your skin moisturized.
