A New Twist to Place Cards by using Wax
Tuesday, January 6th, 2009
Place cards are something that many of us who entertain on a regular basis use to obviously show the place where one sits at your function. The best thing about place cards is you can place people were you want them and who you want them to sit by. They are used for weddings, graduations, receptions; anniversary parties are even socialist dinners every other weekend. The most popular form of a place card is a square 3 x 5 or even smaller square of thick card stock with just the person’s name on it placed on the plate or inside the napkin of where they should sit.
There are many ways to put a festive and nice touch onto the traditional theme for a place card that will make your table setting pop. One way is to use wax. Wax may not be on your list of “things to set the table with” but it can be a great and neat way to add some flare to an already awesome place card at your dinner table. Here’s how to accomplish this.
First you will need some card stock, colored or plain white; either way is your choice. Using a Wax Seal, drip the wax onto the place card and imprint the letter of the person’s name onto the card. If they have a short name such as Jan or Kim, you can actually Wax Seal their whole name onto the place card.
You can also buy these Wax Seals in designs as well, so maybe place the letter of the person’s name and a small leaf on the side of the card as well for a fall social gathering or even a tree during Christmas dinners or a heart during a Valentine’s Day Dinner. The possibilities are endless. You can also write the person’s name on the card and dip in clear wax to make a more permanent and creative place card as well. Use you imagination and come up with awesome ways to display a name for your dinner gathers this season.
