Cucumbers and the Eye Benefits Behind Them
Everyone has heard the facts behind cucumbers: Place them on your eyes to help with tired eyes. Cucumber contain a special ingredient that helps to reduce swelling around the eye or bags under the eyes.
More than 90% of the cucumber consists of water. It is the cooling effect of the water in the cucumbers on eyes, that reduces the swelling. Some products contain extracts of cucumber, which in high concentration may help to improve the hydration of the skin. Gentle massage also helps.
Cucumbers also contain added health benefits with its hydrating, nourishing and astringent properties. Cucumbers have the same pH as the skin so they help to restore the skin’s protective and natural acid mantle. You could cut them and put cucumber coins straight onto your skin to sooth and soften, or combine them as here with other kitchen-cupboard ingredients to provide abundant skin toning, resulting in, smoothed, and very soothing skin after the process.
Here’s a great recipe to achieve those very results. With continued use of this treatment you will see a difference in the way your skin looks and feels. Give it a try:
Things You’ll Need:
6 fresh mint leaves
1/2 medium cucumber
1 large egg white
Natural Spring Water
1. Place the mint in a food processor and give it one short burst to chop. Peel and seed the cucumber. Add it to the mint in the processor or blender and puree. Beat the egg white separately until it stands in stiff peaks. Fold it very gently in to the pureed cucumber mixture.
2. Apply evenly to the face and neck and leave on for 20 minutes. Rinse with bottled or spring water and pat dry.
3. Take additional cucumber coin slices and rub all over face after first skin care treatment for a toning effect on the skin.
