Make a Sugar Scrub with those Leftover Candy Canes
After the holidays are over, in our house, we end up with about 10-sometimes 20 peppermint candy canes or other flavor candy canes left over. And over the course of a few months, they end up getting eaten, but sometimes many of them go stale or end up tasting terrible by the time they get eaten. I figured out, with a bit of experimenting, the best way to use them up before a month or so and also keep them from being wasted as well. By making a simple sugar scrub with the peppermint candy canes you can use those left over canes and enjoy the benefits of a sugar scrub right in your own shower as well. Here’s how it is made.
What you will need
10-12 peppermint candy canes enough to make a half cup (this works best with peppermint canes, but any can be used)
1/2 cup granulated sugar (organic sugar is the best to use for this)
Food processor or small drink mix blender
Epsom salts
Olive oil, jojoba oil or grape seed oil you need about 1/2 to 1 cup of oil
Mix the granulated sugar with the Epsom salt and combine till blended thoroughly. Meanwhile, crush the peppermint candy canes in a food processor until a fine powder is created. Add the peppermint cane powder to the sugar and salt mixture and combine till blended thoroughly. Add the oil at a tablespoon at a time till a thick paste is created. Add a tbs. or two more of oil and combine till blended.
To use, use the tips of your fingers and add a small amount at a time to your skin and rub into the skin in light, small circles till your whole body is covered in the shower. Rinse with luke warm water and pat your skin dry. The amazing smell of peppermint will be carried on your body throughout the entire day and be softened at the same time.
