Self-Heal yourself with Acupressure

by

Acupressure derived from the Latin words “acus” or point and “pressus”, or pressure was used in China over 5,000 years ago and is still used with many people today. It can help with motions sickness* (see below), and curing disease and promoting health through the flow of energy. Acupressure can also help prevent illness and alleviate pain and other symptoms of disease when used regularly and preformed properly.

Chinese medicine is where acupressure got started and is based on two traditional tenets that energy forces flow through invisible channels in the body called meridians. With proper usage of acupressure the energy flow can help with imbalances and blockages within the body.

To perform proper acupressure techniques try these following procedures:

• Begun by sitting in a comfortable position and locate the desired pressure point. Press firmly or massage the point of pressure with your fingertips of the opposite hand if the process is being preformed of the wrist or hands. Massage the point for about 15 to 30 seconds. Ease up slightly then resume the pressure. Work on a certain point for up to 1 to 2 minutes if needed.

1. For headaches: begin on the head by stimulating the acupressure points of the bridge of the nose and the two points above the eye brows on each side. Then move to the feet on the big toe between the first and second joint on the toes. Then to the hand right under the last thumb joint on the wrist.

2. for back of the head pain: Stimulate the hollow points on the back of the head and the neck area.

3. for pain in the temples: Massage the temple areas for about 30 seconds; do not press hard though these areas are very sensitive.

4. for pain in the forehead: Massage the areas of the jaw line where your temples and ear line meet at the jaw. Stimulate this area for about 45 seconds to 1 minute depending on the pain.

5. for a deeper headache such as migraine: Hold pressure to the web of skin between the thumb and the index finger for 30 seconds. Hold the opposite hand if the headache still is present. If the headache is still felt hold the web of skin longer till it relieves the pain in the head.

6. for panic attacks: Massage the hollow points above the tibia with your middle finger or thumb for about 15 to 30 seconds. Release briefly and then reapply pressure. Continue for several minutes.

7. Poor circulation: On the inside of the tip of the little finger, right next to the groove of the fingernail, is the ninth point of the heart meridian. Apply strong pressure with your fingernail for about 30 seconds.
