Soap and Candles Gift Ideas for Mother’s Day
Whether you buy them or make them, soap and candles are always welcome gifts for Mom. Even those of us who make them ourselves love to get beautifully crafted candles or soaps as presents. Just don’t be surprised if your candle or soap making mother takes your gift apart to see how it was made!
If candles are Mom’s thing, these gorgeous Crystal Salt Tea Light Candle Holders are simply stunning. The light that emits from inside is soft and mellow, perfect for relaxing by. Or, if you want to appeal to Mom’s fun side, these gel Margarita Candles are really cool. Pick up a set of four candles in different colours and scented with margarita fragrance, complete with wax fruit garnishes and a rattan tray to display them on for $32.95. That’s a pretty good deal!
You could also make a pretty candle that has a photograph embedded in it, with these simple instructions courtesy of About.com. I can’t think of a more suitable candle project for Mother’s Day!
Soaps come in all different shapes, sizes, and scents too. Like these adorable Cupcake Soaps from IrieStar! Available in Lavender, Lemongrass, and Spicy Mint, you’ll want to get a couple of them so Mom can use one and keep one to display. Lush always has fabulous gift items, and for Mother’s Day you could try the Yummy Mummy gift set. Pick up some of their amazing bath bombs too - just trust me on this one.
For a soap making project, it’s really simple to embed silk or pressed flowers into a bar of clear melt and pour soap. Just follow the same instructions as for the kid’s soap project, but use the flowers instead of erasers, and use a clear base for the second soap pour. Omit the colourants and scent with your favourite floral fragrance. When you’re finished, wrap the bars in clear plastic wrap, and tie them up with some pretty ribbon to make the gift extra special.
Happy Mother’s Day!
