Tea for Your Body
• English Tea Astringent
Makes: 4 ounces
1/4 cup boiling water
2 tea bags of green, orange, pekoe, Earl Grey or Jasmine
1/2 cup witch hazel extract
Pore the boiling water over the tea bags and steep for at least 1 hour. This will make a strong infusion. Then combine the cooled tea with the witch hazel and stir to mix well. Pour into a clean bottle and apply to the skin with a cotton ball.
• Herbal Tub Tea
Makes: 2 to 4 ounces
Large Muslin sack or square of cheesecloth
1/4 cup dried herbs or 1/2 cup fresh herbs such as rosemary, lavender or mint for a stimulating bath. Or chamomile, elderflower and angelica for a relaxing blend. Basil, lemon balm and mint for a refreshing blend. Raspberry leaves, bay leaves, mugwort for an invigorating blend. Sage, thyme and lemon verbena for a cleansing blend.
Fill the container with the desired blend of herbs and hang the tea-filled container under the spout of you running bath water. Gently squeeze the tea bags and allow the tea to float as you bathe. You can reuse the muslin bag over and over, but discard the cheesecloth once the bath is over.
• Sweet Tea Feet
Makes 80 ounces, enough for one footbath
2 black tea bags
2 cups boiling water for steeping the tea
2 quarts cool water for the footbath
Make a strong tea by boiling the tea bags in water for about 15 minutes. Fill a large bowl with cool water or a foot soaking pan and stir in tea solution. Soak your feet for about 30 minutes in the tea mixture. Do this process everyday for a week to help combat foot odor.
